California Walnut Company, Incorporated has its beginnings with the Spanfelner Family who planted some of the first commercial English walnut orchards in Los Molinos, California in 1912. Frank Spanfelner Sr. built his walnut huller and dryer in 1946 harvesting about 20 acres of walnuts.

In 1976, Frank Spanfelner Jr. constructed his walnut huller and dryer, harvesting about 450 acres of walnuts. In 2001, Frank's daughter Ginger with her husband Greg Gilchrist, expanded the walnut hulling operation in include a processing plant for in-shell walnuts.

In 2009, California Walnut Company will not only be processing in-shell walnuts but we will also be adding a new walnut sheller and be offering premium, high quality walnut meats.
